Everyone in Amherst Primary School works to ensure it is a caring, nurturing, special place where children can grow, learn, and flourish.
Amherst children are always positively encouraged, challenged, and supported to be the best they can be!
At Amherst, our vision statement is central to everything we want for all our children and our wider community.
Our vision is to nurture and develop the values, knowledge, skills and understanding our children need to flourish and make a positive difference in our Bailiwick community and the wider world.
Our vision statement is encapsulated by our school promise ‘Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day’.

To achieve our vision, we aim to encourage our children to demonstrate and follow our six core values each day.
Our values are:
These are reinforced through our 'values characters', which are:
All staff at Amherst Primary School are determined to provide the highest possible standards of teaching and learning for every child. We aim to provide an exciting and engaging curriculum designed to meet our children’s needs and develop local and global perspectives. We aim to ensure learning is matched to a child’s ability and has the appropriate level of support and challenge. At Amherst, we value every child’s contribution and encourage them to respect and value those of others – demonstrated by achieving Rights Respecting Gold status in September 2024.
We hope your child will find Amherst a happy school and a special place where they can thrive, develop and achieve.
We look forward to working with you and your support to help your child grow and learn with us in the years ahead.
