School Admissions
For information and advice about applying for and securing a place for your child in school, please use the following link to find out more about School Admissions.
If a child is 5 years old by 1st September, they must attend school or be educated otherwise, unless they are, in some way, exempt by law.
To register, please complete and return a Registration Form (see the link below) to the School Admissions Team or email them directly using schooladmissions@gov.gg.
If a child is 4 years old on or before 31st August, they may start in September the following year in Reception, if spaces are available.
To register, please complete and submit the Reception Registration Form below, along with the required supporting documentation, to your catchment school.
You can check if you are living in the correct catchment for any school on the island by using the following link - www.gov.gg/catchmentareas).
Enter your postcode through this link, which will show you which school's catchment area you are living in.
The School Admissions Team will endeavour to place your child in their respective catchment school.
Moving to Guernsey
Parents and Carers moving to Guernsey with a school-age child wishing to apply for a place in a state-maintained school are asked to read the relevant sections on the States of Guernsey School Admissions page, then complete and return this Admission Form at least two weeks prior to their child's intended start date.
- Admission Form and Supporting Documentation: The completed Admission Form will need to be submitted to the School Admissions Team, via e-mail, or via post, using the contact details provided below, and must include:
- A photocopied proof of a Guernsey address (e.g. utility bill, signed lease agreement)
- A copy of your child's birth certificate, or passport
- Photographic proof of your identity (e.g. driving licence or passport)
- Details of any Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
- A copy of their most recent school report and / or details of their current curriculum and subject choices
- The application will not be processed without proof of address. If there are any issues with producing proof of address, please contact our School Admissions Team using the contact details provided below.
- Applications received immediately before or during the school holidays are likely to take longer to process, though every effort will be made to confirm a place as early as possible.
